Physical Oceanography is Ocean Physics!
Why was this page created?:
- As a simple FYI.
- Because I find the term "Physical Oceanography" to be overly-complex at best, and somewhat non-descriptive at worst.
- There is a shortage of well qualified graduate students in the field of physical oceanography.
- In my opinion, this shortage is due in large part to a lack of proper advertising. This page is a form of advertising.
- Though most Physical Oceanographers have bachelors degrees in Physics or Mathematics, most Physics/Math majors are unaware of Physical Oceanography as an option (I didn't).
- For the Physics/Mathematics student who is interested in being a research scientist, but who desires a field of research that is potentially more tangible, familiar and not necessarily confined to a lab, Physical Oceanography might be a good match.
