Research Interests

Ocean mixing is an important part of our understanding of the Worlds Oceans. I am particularly interested in:
  • The Theory of Turbulence and other highly stochastic processes.
  • Highly localized Turbulence and Mixing

Current Work

RISE (River Influences on Shelf Ecosystems) is an interdisciplinary project studying the Physical, and Biogeochemical interactions in the Columbia River Plume ecosystem. My contribution to this project includes identifying and quantifying the physical processes that force mixing in this region. These processes are characterized by large gradients (velocity and density) and a small aspect ratio (plume thickness:horizontal extent ~ 5m:20km).
